I was right. Week 2 was the last gimme workout of this C25k program. Remember those classes in school? The gimme ones you were almost guaranteed an ‘A’ if you just showed up, and sometimes even that wasn’t required? Well, now I’m in the major workout program…5 minute warm-up walk, 90 second jog, 90 second walk, 3 minute jog, 3 minute walk, 90 second jog, 90 second walk, 3 minute jog, 3 minute walk, 5 minute cool-down walk. The first 3-minute jog I managed to squeak, which was the first time I have ever ever ever jogged for three minutes. Yes, I was a jock in high school, but I played volleyball and basketball, which was short court warm-ups and sprints, and I ran track, which again was just short distances. I’m a little ashamed to admit that I never even ran the two-lap warm-ups. A measly 800 yards and I couldn’t even do it back then at my peak. That second 3-minute jog, though? It gave me problems and I had to hop off the treadmill for a few seconds…20 or 30…before continuing. Still, not bad for a 44-year old overweight couch potato!
